Telldus Core - TellStick not found - Solved

15th February 2017

After installing Telldus Core on my Home Assistant Raspberry Pi, I had problems with running

tdtool --on 1

and got the error

Turning on device 1, Example device - TellStick not found

When you run sudo nano /etc/tellstick.conf you need to add

controller {
id = 1
# name = ""
type = 2
serial = "AE01DIR6"

right after ignoreControllerConfirmation = "false".

Now, in order to find your serial, run dmesg and then look for Telldus. I found this:

[    2.332702] usb 1-1.3: New USB device found, idVendor=1781, idProduct=0c31
[    2.332711] usb 1-1.3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[    2.332718] usb 1-1.3: Product: TellStick Duo
[    2.332725] usb 1-1.3: Manufacturer: Telldus
[    2.332732] usb 1-1.3: SerialNumber: A703AIWA

And thus my Serial Number is A703AIWA. After inputting this into the tellstick configuration file and doing a reboot, everything works again.
