Get your MySQL passwords on DigitalOcean one click install

3rd November 2016

Digital Ocean no longer prints MySQL passwords in MOTD

When I last installed WordPress from the Digital Ocean one click install, I could easily find the MySQL root password in the Message of the Day. This is of course a bit insecure so they seem to have changed it. However, I couldn't find where it was located now...

After a bit of googling I found that it's now located in a file that you can find by entering cat /root/.digitalocean_password into the terminal. This way, you easily get the root password and WordPress user password so you can save it in your password database in encrypted form. You do have a password database, right?
